Green Shoots - Receivers appointed to Clerys department store




Guiney & Co. Ltd, owners of the iconic Clerys department store on O'Connell St. in Dublin has appointed receivers to the retail business.

The Dublin store will remain open for business as usual and a company statement said that 147 jobs in the store were unaffected by the move.

Two Clerys Home Furnishing Stores in Leopardstown and Naas are to close with the loss of 19 jobs. A further 10 people are to lose their jobs with the closure of Guineys of 79 Talbot St.

It is understood that a petition will be filed with the High Court at Guineys' request.

Paul McCann and Michael McAteer of Grant Thornton have been appointed as joint receivers.
A statement noted that the joint receivers are at an advanced stage of negotiations with a potential buyer.
